Checking out the weekly flyers in my neighborhood, I discovered that Future Shop has started selling Duracell-branded flash drives and SD cards. I know that the battery specialist doesn’t make flash memory, so I wondered where this new product line came from.

As it turns out, the full line of Duracell flash memory products comes courtesy of Dane-Elec, a name that is already well-ensconced in world of memory. The Duracell line will include pill-shaped USB flash drives, Secure Digital (SD) cards, CompactFlash (CF) cards, microSD cards, flash card readers, and flash memory bundles.

I don’t expect these Duracell cards and drives to be the fastest or most capacious things in the world, but they are inexpensive. I recall seeing an 8GB SDHC card for under $20.
