It’s clear that the market wants a super portable way to surf the web, so we are inundated with an endless supply of smartphones, UMPCs, MIDs, and netbooks. I’m not exactly sure where I would place the Sharp 9225h along this spectrum though.
As you can see, it boasts a full QWERTY keyboard and a mini-laptop form factor, but it’s certainly not as big as most of the netbooks and UMPCs on the market. By the same accord, with a somewhat chunky exterior and a 3.5-inch screen, the Sharp 9225h is also bigger than most smartphones. You also get a camera, TV tuner, and microSDHC expansion slot.
Should we be calling it a palmtop? The keyboard seems better suited for thumb-based typing, so maybe this Sharp number should be placed next to something like the Nokia E90 Communicator?
