There seems to be a significant price difference between equivalently-equipped compact notebooks and their slightly larger brethren. Generally speaking, it can sometimes be tough to find a smaller laptop with dedicated graphics for under a grand, but that’s exactly the case with the new HP dv3500t.

Featuring a 13.3-inch widescreen display, the HP dv3500t notebook can be equipped with your choice of four Intel Core 2 Duo processors, ranging from the T5800 2.0GHz on the low-end, all the way to the T9400 2.53GHz on the high-end. Perhaps more notably, this laptop also gets nVidia GeForce 9300M GS graphics. Rounding out the specs are your choice of hard drive (160GB-400GB) and an optional HD screen with LED backlighting.

Pricing starts at $999.99. That’s only a penny short of a grand, but it’s still under the magical four-figure barrier.
