One of the biggest selling points for a netbook like the Asus Eee PC 901 is the fact that it is incredibly portable. Following in that line of mobile thought, Asus will soon be equipping the subnotebook with integrated mobile broadband too.

You see, you may not always be blanketed in a sea of Wi-Fi, so you may need to rely on wireless data at some point or another. Some of the other netbooks in the market are offering similar 3G, 3.5G, and 3.75G connectivity, so Asus didn’t want to lag behind too far. The HSPA-equipped Eee PC maxes out at 7.2Mbps downstream and 2Mbps upstream. The rest of the specs remain the same, like the 1GB of RAM, Intel Atom, and your choice of a 16GB of 20GB SSD.

Before you get concerned, the use of a mobile broadband radio won’t adversely affect battery life, we’re told. They say that the 901 can still entertain and educate you for 7.5 hours before reaching for a wall outlet.
