If you happen to live in a major metropolitan area, there’s a good chance that you can wander in any number of coffee shops or shopping malls and be treated to a never-ending sea of Wi-Fi goodness. In this way, you can bring your notebook PC along with you and make use of some free Internet access. The same can now be said about Zunes and the golden arches.

Wayport, McDonald’s, and Microsoft have come to some sort of agreement wherein you can bring your Microsoft Zune to a number of different McDonald’s locations and get treated to some free Wi-Fi. Seeing how the Zune comes equipped with a Wi-Fi radio, this means that you can have full access to the WiFi marketplace and social networking aspects of the portable media player. Unfortunately, unlike the iPod touch, the Zune doesn’t have a real web browser.

Either way, free is free. Now you just have to get a Zune.
