Unless you go through gray market avenues, it is not really possible to get a GSM version of the HTC Touch Diamond in Canada or the United States. Yes, you could grab the CDMA version from someone like Telus Mobility, but where’s the love for the GSM folks? I don’t want to pay exorbitant eBay importer prices.

In some ways, it seems like Best Buy is going to be your knight in shining armor, because the big box electronics retailer is reportedly picking up an unlocked GSM version of the HTC Touch Diamond. That’s the good news. The bad news is that they’re going to charge you $700 for the slick touchscreen wonder. That’s pretty pricey, but bear in mind that this is unlocked and sans contract.

If you’re in the market for something with a touchscreen and you don’t mind a contract, I also hear that Best Buy is selling some other phone from Cupertino these days. You might want to check that out.
