When you pick up certain accessories by Griffin, iLuv, and other manufacturers, you may notice that it has a badge on the package that says “Made for iPod”, “Works with iPhone”, or some variation thereof. Well, it seems that Sony wants to take a similar approach with its music-loving accessories as well.

We could be facing an onslaught of Sony-minded music accessories, because Sony has just launched “Designed for Walkman” branding, giving you piece of mind that your chosen speaker dock will play friendly with your Walkman. Just as the iPod has a standard dock connector, Sony’s players tend to use the company’s proprietary WM-PORT connector.

With “Designed for Walkman” branding, you can feel a little better about buying third-party accessories for your Walkman, because they’ve been Sony-approved. Is this Sony’s attempt to revitalize the brand? Maybe.
