OLPC Coming to Amazon in November: Buy One for the Price of Two

Remember late last year when you could buy an OLPC XO Laptop for double the price, shipping the second one to a child in a developing nation? It seems that the promotion is coming back, but it’s going to be offered through Amazon.

I believe that this is still a rumor at this point, but word on the street is that Amazon will start selling the child-oriented budget notebook starting in November and the online retailer will be maintaining the “Give 1, Get 1″ program. The version shipping will dual-boot with XP and the Sugar OS.

Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but you’ll likely be doing to buy one for the price of two thing again. Presumably, the second half of the price tag is a tax-deductible donation.
