We don’t have very many details surrounding this particular handset, but all the phone-touting shutterbugs in the audience will surely take notice. It turns out that Casio and Hitachi have teamed up to create a mobile phone for the American market and based on these sketches, it looks like something that you’d more likely find in the streets of Akihabara.

The exact model number is not available, but this Hitachi-Casio phone is going to receive Exilim branding, not unlike the slim line of digital cameras from Casio. The kicker is that this slim clamshell comes with an incredible 8-megapixel camera. Whether the image quality on this camera phone holds its own against a standalone digicam remains to be seen.

In any case, this Exilim phone has jumped through the FCC loop. Now, we just have to wait for it to arrive through retail channels.
