As you know, you can currently get your hands on the new iPhone 3G in your choice of black or white. What if you have more colorful inclinations? After all, something like the iPod nano is available in a huge range of colors.

There are rumors circulating that Apple will be offering a red version of the iPhone 3G in time for the Christmas holidays. More specifically, this iPhone will likely be sold under the PRODUCT (RED) initiative, so a portion of the proceeds will go towards fighting AIDS in Africa. Aside from the bright red behind, the refreshed iPhone 3G probably won’t come with any extra features.

Seeing how Apple has participated in the PRODUCT (RED) campaign in the past with iPods, a red iPhone would not be much of a stretch.
