I guess Apple has another winner on their hands, because when O2 of the UK started to offer pre-orders for the iPhone 3G this morning, their allotment of pre-orders was sold out in a matter of hours. If you find yourself in London, you may have to go without the second coming of the Jesus phone this Friday.

The pre-ordering site was activated this morning by O2. The masses flooded the website and caused all sorts of massive downtime and slowdown. When the site was reasonably available again, O2 had the message posted (shown here) saying that there are no more pre-orders available. The silver lining is that you can “come back on 10 July for more information.”

Maybe they’re waiting for those diverted shipments from Canada or something.
