Love him or hate him, Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal is a pretty influential guy when it comes to consumer electronics. As such, when he says that the Samsung Instinct can barely hold a candle to the Apple iPhone 3G, people are going to listen.
What started out as a video review for the Samsung Instinct, the latest in a growing line of touchscreen phones that were probably inspired by Cupertino and Steve Jobs, ends up being yet another endorsement and commercial for the Apple iPhone 3G. Before the emergence of the 3G iPhone, the Samsung Instinct may have had a few critical advantages like integrated GPS and high-speed 3G data, but both of those have been included in the second-gen iPhone.
Although this is officially supposed to be a review for the Samsung Instinct, which will sell for under $200 through Sprint before the end of the month, it seems that Mossberg is too enamored with Apple’s mobile to give it the attention it deserves. Oh well. It could be too little too late on the part of Sprint and Samsung anyways.
