Asus ZX1 Smartphone Kicks into High Gear with Lamborghini

Just as HTC did with TouchFLO, Asus is making Windows Mobile 6.1 a little bit more attractive (and possibly more usable) with the introduction of the “Glide” user interface on the Asus ZX1 smartphone. Instead of having just one home screen on the phone, you can actually switch between some different modes. There’s a work mode that focuses on productivity and a weekend mode with more of a focus on multimedia, for example. These are all user customizable and you switch between the modes by gliding your finger across the screen.

Taking a look at the rest of the specs, the Asus ZX1 touchscreen Windows Mobile smartphone will be able to hold its own against many of its main competitors. Measuring 115.6 x 59.4 x 13.2mm, the ZX1 is a little bigger than some other handsets in this niche. That said, the large 2.8-inch display and Lamborghini branding will certainly get some enthusiasts to swoon. The entire Glide user interface has been overlaid with all sorts of Lamborghini-themed goodness, including some tachometer-looking clocks and boost gauge-like meters.

Going through the rest of the spec sheet, you’ll find tri-band HSDPA, quad-band GSM, a TI OMAP 2431 processor, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, microSDHC expansion, SiRFStar III GPS, and dual cameras.

I just got through a half dozen documentaries and videos that I’ve been meaning to get to for months now. How I did it? The Just Mobile UpStand and a bit of help from CineXplayer. Now that my iPad conveniently sits next to my monitor in seemingly perfect viewable angle, I can let those videos play as I work during the day.

Its large display, crystal clear screen, and a multitude of features make it one of the most impressive tablets on the market. Check out Mobile Magazine’s iPad review here. However, like all iDevices, they do leave something to be desired in the area of durability.
