I got invited to visit the special OCZ suite at Computex Taipei the other day, so I took the opportunity to see their new DIY gaming notebook kit in person. The physical design doesn’t look like anything special, but it is pretty awesome that you can build a notebook with virtually no outward branding. Better still, because you’re building it yourself, it’ll be cheaper than buying a preconfigured unit.

Building a gaming notebook shouldn’t be any more complicated than building a gaming desktop, so OCZ made sure that they were able to take care of this group of PC gaming enthusiasts. The DIY kit makes it easier than ever for anyone to enjoy their own high performance notebook with a custom configuration.

OCZ validates all the components to make sure that your gaming notebook will be compatible and stable. The two core components are the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT high performance graphics. When it comes time to upgrade, you can just swap out individual components rather than investing in a whole new notebook. Don’t worry. There’s a guide included for novices.
