I’m all for creative form factors and interesting designs, but why on Earth would Canon decide to make a photo printer that looks more like a paper shredder bucket or a waste paper basket? Whatever the case, that’s exactly what they’ve done with the Canon Selphy CP770. It looks like a bucket, complete with a handle on the size for ease of portability.

Canon is saying that the Selphy CP770 makes printing fun for the whole family. The interesting thing is that the bucket part of the equation only serves the purpose of transport. The actual printer itself must be removed from the bucket (as shown below) before a picture of little Timmy can be produced. The controls are all on top, including a small LCD preview screen. From what I can tell, it also has a card reader for PC-less printing.

Besides the bucket-ness, there doesn’t seem to be anything groundbreaking with the Canon Selphy CP770. Check it out for about 150 bones.
