Some people may be perfectly satisfied with minimalist design and feature sets, but then there are others that want a handset jam-packed with every feature on the sun. It’s clear who Samsung is targeting with their latest creation. The Samsung SCH-W599 can’t decide which cellular standard it wants, so it’s going to offer both. In addition to CDMA, the W599 also has dual SIM slots for GSM reception.
But wait, there’s more. The Samsung W599 comes equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, an extending stylus for handwriting recognition, directional controls encircling a scroll wheel, 2 megapixel camera, MP3 and streaming media playback, Bluetooth, FM radio, 34MB of onboard memory, and microSD expansion. That handwriting recognition works for certain commands as well.
Interestingly, the Samsung SCH-W599 is being targeted at the China market, which makes me wonder if it’s a legitimate Samsung product in the first place. In any case, it sells for 4,490 yuan, which works out to about US$650.
