Chirp! Where you at? A couple of new Direct Connect devices are heading down the chute to Sprint-Nextel and they appear to be quite similar to one another. Set to be available a little later this month are the Sanyo Pro-200 and the Sanyo Pro-700. Both Sprint-Nextel Direct Connect cell phones are clamshells. Most customers will opt for having one number to cover both regular voice and PTT calls, but you can also opt to have separate numbers for these services.
As its model number implies, the PRO-200 by Sanyo is the more affordable of the two handsets. You get digital dual-band connectivity, Bluetooth, mobile email, and up to 4.9 hours of continuous talk time. The Sanyo Pro-200 sells for $49.99 with a two-year agreement.
Stepping it up about half a notch is the PRO-700 by Sanyo. Boasting a more rugged design, this compact clamshell is certified to military standards for dust, shock, and vibration. The Sanyo Pro-700 goes for $69.99 with a two-year contract.
