If you’re the type that likes to send a lot of text messages, but your plan currently doesn’t have an adequate bucket of SMS, you may be in for a bit of a surprise on an upcoming bill. AT&T has decided to increase the rate for both text messages and multimedia messages, much to the dismay of BFFs across the nation.

Word is that any text message sent above and beyond what is included in your plan will cost you 20 cents each whereas any multimedia messages sent will soon cost 30 cents. As you know, the iPhone is not even capable of the latter, but I’d imagine that iPhone users get a fair bit of use out of the former.

Just a heads up. Maybe it’s time you increase your monthly allotment… or you could cut down on the texting.
