Leaked? iPhone 2.0 Firmware Has Contacts Search

Search? On an iPhone? Have pigs suddenly learned to fly? Whatever the case, it seems that the new firmware update for the iPhone could indeed feature a search feature, making it much easier for people with larger than life contact lists.

Shown here is a quick shot from last week’s event wherein Steve Jobs formally announced the SDK (software developers kit) for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. The search icon — a standard magnifying glass — can be seen just above the letters on the top-right, but the interesting thing is that this icon was not visible in the actual demo. Instead, it could only be seen from a still screenshot.

Chalk this one up as a rumor for now, but if you want to delve into a little deeper, take a close look at the SDK video at about the 9:30 mark.
