Alltel Wireless looks like they’ve got themselves a rather attractive LG slider phone coming down the chute, because the LG Glimmer has all the appeal of both the Shine and the Viewty. On the one hand, you’ve got a full touchscreen display on the front face, giving users a near iPhone-like experience. On the other hand, this handset also slides open the conventional way to reveal a standard numeric keypad. It seems like the best of both worlds.

This leaked image clearly shows off the 2.8-inch touchscreen (240×400), but we imagine that the keypad is similar to what you’d find on the Chocolate or the Shine. Thankfully, LG has opted for a metal casing instead of some cheap plastic, but all the innards sound tantalizing as well. We hear it’s got 3D graphics support, stereo Bluetooth (with OBEX too), integrated music player, 128MB internal memory, microSD slot, 2 megapixel camera with flash and video, high-speed EVDO, and support for Alltel’s portfolio of premium services. This includes Axcess TV, Axcess Web, and Alltel Navigation.

The Glimmer by LG is still just a rumor at this point, but an unnamed Alltel store rep is saying that the slick slider will hit stores this April. Others say it may come even sooner.
