We discovered this phone yesterday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and it seemed like such an intriguing idea. At first glance, the Sony Ericsson G700 looks just like any other candybar phone, but what makes it so special is that the display is actually a touchscreen, opening a whole new world of menu navigation and functionality.

In the video embedded below, you’ll be able to see the new SE touchscrren interface in action, going through all the different functions that this phone has to offer.

As you recall, core features on the Sony G700 include a powerful 3.15 megapixel camera, 160MB of internal memory, an M2 memory card expansion slot, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, and — of course — the aforementioned 2.4-inch touchscreen display.

The interface appears to be reasonably smooth and it has been designed for use with your fingers rather than with a stylus.
