Mitsubishi Concept-RA Sports Coupe is All-Wheel-Drive

When you think of all-wheel-drive sports cars, one of the first names that comes to mind is the Subaru WRX. Mitsubishi doesn’t want you to forget that they’re all over the AWD phenomenon too, having just revealed the Concept-RA sports coupe to the world at the Detroit Auto Show. To make things even more interesting, this sporty number is powered by diesel fuel, rather than standard gasoline.

The 2.2L four-cylinder DOHC turbo diesel engine with MIVEC4 develops a formidable 201 horsepower, but it’s the torque numbers that will impress you: 310 lbs-ft through Mitsubishi’s S-AWC system. This is a clean diesel coupe, and the “MIVEC system incorporates valve lift control with low and high-speed cam profiles actuating the intake valves.”

As if that weren’t stylish enough, the Concept-RA is rocking a pair of guillotine doors too. Think of it as an Eclipse on steroids.
