When it comes to choosing a navigation system for your car, you have to decide whether you want a portable device or an in-dash model. Power versus convenience. Pioneer doesn’t want you to be burdened with that tough decision. Their new device, the awkwardly named AVIC-F500BT is billed as the first hybrid navigation system. It is able to integrate with virtually any existing vehicle audio system, so you don’t have to completely overhaul your dash to enjoy the integration of an in-dash machine.
The device allows for advanced voice control of your iPod and Bluetooth phone as well, so it can do much more than just tell you where to go. This is the first after-market product to offer that level of voice control. The screen is a 5.8 inch high resolution WVGA, and it can show you your route from overhead or by moveable 3D. It’s due for market sometime in the spring at an undisclosed price.
