The highest resolution that the DXG-566V can handle is 1280 x 720 at 30fps. You can also dial down the full-motion video to 720 x 480, also at 30fps. The movies are recorded in H.264 MOV format and they can be stored either on the 32MB of onboard memory (no good for HD video, methinks) or onto an SD/SDHC memory card.
Beyond the HD video that this puppy can dish out, it also has 2x digital zoom, a 3.0-inch TFT display, a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor for JPEG stills. These photos can then be interpolated to 8 megapixels. There’s no optical zoom to speak of, so your amateur videos will probably look quite amateur, but hey, it’s only $150.
