The Birmingham Post is reporting that there will be a rather major purchase announced as early as tomorrow and it involves a couple of the world’s most recognizable car brands. Word is Tata Motors of India is buying Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford for a total of about $2 billion USD.

Ford has been shopping around for a buyer for some time now, so it’s nice to hear about some sort of conclusion to all this drama. Tata Motors, all jokes aside about the name of the firm, is a company that is definitely on the rise in the worldwide market and by buying a couple of fairly well-respected brands, Tata could further establish itself as a worldwide leader.

Neither Ford nor Tata has confirmed any of these reports and the announcement may not even come tomorrow as Ford “has repeatedly said that a buyer will not be named until early next year.”
