One of the cool features that people like to talk about is the magnetized power cord included with Apple MacBook computers. That same feature is reportedly heading to a series of Nokia mobile phones. I don’t know if you’ve noticed that Nokia cell phones typically have two ports that are quite close to one another: one for headphones and the other for the charger. Some people get confused over which is which.

As a possible solution, Nokia is considering the prospect of magnetizing these ports, possibly making one positive and one negative. They include opposite magnets on the charger and headset, so if you try to plug the headset into the charger port, it’ll repel. If you try to plug the charger into the charger port, it’ll attract. No confusion, no mess.

Sounds like a simple but effective solution for any goofballs in the audience who can’t tell the difference between a headset jack and a charger port.
