We wrote about the WiBrain B1 last week. It sounded very interesting, and now we have a hands-on account of the new UMPC. The first thing that some people might be concerned about when looking at this device is the split QWERTY thumb pad. That’s different than what we are used to, and different is not always good. In this case, though, it seems from this account that once you get used to it the design works just fine – the keys have a nice feel and are big enough to be used easily.

Apparently the screen looked great, the pop-up webcam had a built-in mic to make it both effective and fun to use, and it was light enough to functionally carry around. All in all, the report makes it sound as if this is very much a device worth looking into given the surprisingly reasonable $849 price tag.
