When I hear the name Asus, I think of two things. I know that the company is well known for their computer motherboards, but they’ve certainly started to make a big splash in the notebook computer market as well, especially after the introduction of the Asus Eee PC. Well, as you may or may not know, Asus does more than manufacture laptops and computer components: they make portable electronics too, like the R300 Personal Navigation Device featured today.
The Asus R300 PND measures only 1.38cm thick, making it among the slimmest GPS navigational units on the market today. Also bear in mind that it barely tips the scales at a mere 140 grams and you’ve got yourself a fantastic portable direction-giver. The provided picture shows the R300 mounted on a bicycle, but they assure us that it’s perfectly capable of being mounted in a car or shoved in your pocket.
In addition to GPS navigation, the R300 also has Bluetooth, an integrated audio/video player, a touchscreen interface, and a FM transmitter. Maps come in both 2D and 3D variations. No word on price.
