Intel may have the bigger market share, but AMD is really making waves in the world of laptops by partnering up with some rather major players. The latest notebook to feature an AMD dual core processor is the Toshiba Satellite A215, a 15.4-inch widescreen aimed squarely at the mainstream consumer. You get your choice of the latest mobile dual-core processors like the Turion 64 X2 Gold Edition and the Athlon 64 X2.
Basic specifications include SATA hard drives (up to 250GB), a DVD SuperMulti drive (no HD DVD here, it seems), and TruBrite technology, as well as options for a 1.3 megapixel webcam, Labelflash technology, Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400 graphics card. The base unit gets ATI Radeon X1200 graphics.
Prices start at $650 for the Toshiba Satellite A215-S7407 and go up as high as $1200 for the A215-S7472.
