Delayed: Audi Not Ready to Launch New SUVs Yet

Audi is one of the most popular German prestige brands in the world and they’ve been expanding their product line considerably in recent years. The Audi A3 has been doing fairly well in Canada, for example.

The launch of three new Audi SUVs has been delayed until 2009. The three models are the BMW X3-competing Q5, the diesel Q7, and the hybrid Q7. From what we hear, the problems aren’t from production. Instead, the motive is based in marketing.

The original plan was to launch the sport utilities in Q3 2008, but they now feel that the models “could get lost among year end sales drives if released then.” The new plan is to debut the SUVs at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show with sales starting shortly after as 2010 models.
