It used to be that if you wanted full high definition video, the camcorder would be quite the gargantuan device. The Xacti DMX-HD1000 from Sanyo seriously challenges that notion. Despite having the ability to record video in glorious 1920×1080 resolution, this tiny handheld camcorder weighs just 268 grams and measures a compact 90×112.6×54.5mm.
Destined for the Japanese market, the Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD1000 features an ergonomic design and a grip that can adjust up to 135 degrees. There’s also a swing-out 2.7-inch LCD screen so you can ensure that everything is staying in frame. In terms of memory, it’ll swallow an 8GB SDHC memory card and record 1 hour and 25 minutes of full HD. Obviously, if you dial down the resolution, you’ll get more minutes. If you prefer to take stills, the Xacti DMX-HD1000 will do that with 8 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, and ISO 3200.
No word on pricing, but we hear that this cam will ship to Japan next month.
