While it’s not quite as cool as being able to fly like Nathan Petrelli, the jetpacks being tossed around at the Rocketbelt convention are pretty darn close. This is the second year for the flying-enthused conference, held as part of the Thunder of Niagara air show near an Air Force base at the foot of Niagara Falls.

Some of the highlights include the rocketbelt demonstration by GoFast! pilot Eric Scott, who blasted around for a brief 15-second flight. He performed some “gravity-defying stunts and turns at mind-bending angles — like practically perpendicular to the ground.” Gerard Martowlis was showing off the rocketbelt he built from scratch as well.

While jetpacks aren’t quite ready for public consumption, it seems that we’re starting to get pretty close. RocketMan, eat your heart out.
