We’ve seen iPod speaker sets take on all sorts of different form factors, but this has got to be one of the widest contraptions I have ever seen. The iLive Flat Panel Docking System is designed to provide virtual surround sound, so that would probably explain why it’s so freaking wide. To achieve the virtual surround sound, the developers have shoved in twin internal woofers and two magnetically shielded full mid/high range drivers.

There’s a special motorized tray built into this extra wide speaker, giving you a place to enshrine that glossy Apple music and video player. That said, like so many other sets before it, the iLive Flat Panel Docking System is perfectly compatible with all sorts of other A/V equipment including DVD players, TVs, computers, and other audio players. Connectivity is done through 2 RCA ports, 2 S-Video + RCA inputs, and one miniUSB jack.

In addition to virtually surrounding you with sound, this thing also grabs AM/FM radio, shows it off using a backlit LCD clock, and it’ll wake you up in the morning with its alarm. It doesn’t come cheap though, with an asking price of $350.
