Just as our cell phones are getting thinner and lighter, so are the printers that we use to print out our precious photographs. Canon USA has just announced their SELPHY CP740 compact photo printer, a device that they say fits in the palm of your hand. And it’s affordable too.

With an estimated street price of $99.99, the Canon SELPHY CP740 features a two-inch color LCD, automatic red-eye reduction, and the promise that the images will resist fading for up to 100 years, assuming that you use the appropriate ink, paper, and archival photo album.

As it falls into the compact SELPHY line of photo printers, the CP740 can operate just fine without a connection to a PC, ensuring that even grandma can print her digital photographs, avoiding all that messy software that has a tendency to confuse her.

Look for the Canon SELPHY CP740 to hit stores this fall.
