People in Japan will soon have a place to put all the old cell phones that they’ve been hoarding over the years, always getting a new one yet never quite getting rid of the old ones.

A project involving NTT DoCoMo and am/pm Japan has created a series of recycling bins that can stay stationary and let the public come to them. The bins have been manufactured to protect against phone theft as well.

OK, so we’re not too thrilled at the color choice. But we like the idea, even if it’s just to get people to get rid of the closet’s worth of old phones they have lying around.
