Touchscreen isn’t just for the iPhone or for that table that Microsoft unveiled a few weeks back. Touch is also the MO for a new digital shooter from Hewlett-Packard.

The HP R937 is small and light, yes, with 8 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom, and a host of other features. But what makes this product remarkable is its interface: It’s a touchscreen.

The 3.6-inch LCD can be accessed using finger touch commands, including typing on a virtual keyboard. This being a camera, you can, of course, take pictures and even edit them right after shooting them.

The other features include red-eye remover, antishake technology, 32MB and an SD slot for expansion or rotation of memory. The most notable feature of this camera, though, other than the touchscreen, is the “slimming feature.” A software application can take away the fat from your chin, your thighs, or your entire body. Such technology is dangerous in the wrong hands.

The HP R937 goes on sale in August and is expected to be priced at US$300.
