Everybody loves chocolate, right? The courier just arrived at my door a few minutes ago, dropping off the LG Cherry Chocolate Phone currently available from Bell Mobility. It is fundamentally identical to its dark chocolate compatriot, except, of course, that it’s all dressed up in a deep red tone.

My initial impressions are that the build quality is quite good and the size is very nice. In fact, its footprint is just a hair smaller than my Samsung D900 (Ultra Edition 12.9, pictured) though the Samsung has the LG beat in terms of thickness by about a millimeter. The slider mechanism is spring-assisted, which is a very nice touch, but I’m not a big fan of the touch sensitive controls.

During my first few minutes with the LG Cherry Chocolate phone (LG 800), I found myself accidentally pressing these touch sensitive controls too often, accidentally activating things that I didn’t want to. It’s also quite strange than the “end” key is on the right side of the phone, rather than on the face. I suppose this is to prevent you from accidentally ending a call with your cheek. Look for a full review in a week or two. In the meantime, enjoy the unboxing video below.
