Make sure you read that headline correctly, because this phone isn’t about having its own USB port. It has a full-sized USB plug hidden beneath its external antenna. The actual design of this handset — which we think operates like an old school flip phone — reminds me a little of the Samsung Upstage from Sprint, mostly because of the short display near the top of the unit.

But that’s not the interesting part. As you can see from the patent drawing, a cover is taken off of the stubby antenna to reveal a USB plug. You can, I guess, shove this plug into an available USB port for a couple of different purposes. It might be able to take a draw, essentially recharging itself through the USB port. This connection could also be used for seamless data transfer.

Details are very slim at this point, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground for any further developments.
