Canon is probably one of the most trusted names in the world of digital imaging, whether it be a camera or a camcorder. There’s a certain level of trust inherent with any product created by that company. The Canon iVIS HR10 continues in this tradition of great products by giving us a camcorder that will effectively record 1080i HDTV-quality videos directly onto DVD disks. Yes, even the dual-layer stuff to give yourself some extra storage capacity.

The iVIS HR10 camcorder supports HDV/AVCHD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264), just like those beefy Sony HD camcorders. The effective resolution is a beautiful 1440 x 1080. The DIGIC DV II engine is in place for “better sensitivity”, as well as image stabilization and 10x optical zoom. The previewing is done on the 2.7-inch wide screen.

No word on price.
