It’s imaging devices like these that put DVD-based camcorders to shame. The Sony HDR-SR5C comes equipped with an amazing 100 gigabyte hard drive, ensuring that you’ll have plenty of space for all of your vacation videos… much to the dismay of all your friends when it comes time to sharing how you got that tan in Tahiti.

In addition to the huge hard drive, the Sony HDR-SR5C has 10x optical zoom, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens, 2.7-inch widescreen LCD, Super SteadyShot picture stabilization, and 5.1 channel Dolby Digital surround sound (though I’d imagine the 5.1-ness isn’t all that awe-inspiring). The 2.1 megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor also comes in handy when you want to take stills. This thing even has a Memory Stick Duo slot in case the 100 gigs isn’t enough.

Pre-orders are being taken now, but the $1300 Sony digital camcorder won’t start shipping until July 9th.
