With its rather mild-mannered demeanor and unassuming looks, the Sanyo S70 digital camera is not the type to jump out at you. Instead, it’ll just stare you down from afar. Like several other cameras these days, the S70 — which is set to replace the S7 — features automatic face recognition, tracking that visage to ensure a perfectly focused shot.

The rest of the spec sheet sounds pretty much like every other consumer-level shooter today with its 3x optical zoom and 2.5-inch color LCD. Thankfully, the image sensor does provide a good 7.1 megapixels of resolution. Another vital feature is the ability to record full VGA (640×480) video clips, though they make no mention of the frame rate.

We’re still waiting on price and availability information, so hang tight… or go get another camera.
