Have you ever had the experience of going to the washroom with your USB drive in your pocket, only to see all that precious data take a dip in the toilet? All those important documents, all those treasured photos, all those incriminating videos literally going down the crapper? It’s certainly not a pleasant sight. The new Kingston DataTraveler Secure USB 2.0 Flash drives, however, are waterproof, easily surviving that unfortunate plunge in the pool.

Available in Secure and Secure Privacy Edition models, these rugged Kingston DataTraveler drives “have a titanium-coated stainless steel casing.” Not only will they have no problem with a plunk in the porcelain throne, they are protected from water damage in pools as deep as four feet.

Transfer speeds have been rated at 24MB/s reading and 10MB/s writing. They also come equipped with 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard hardware-based encryption. Look for capacities of 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, and 8GB, with the DataTraveler Secure going for $38 to $282, whereas the Privacy Edition models will range from $50 to $350.
