Talk about Moore’s Law. Samsung, fresh off the 4GB NAND chip for mobile phones, is already taking the wraps off an 8GB version, the moviNAND. That’s all kinds of potential for mischief, sorry entertainment, on your mobile—not the least of which is that you can store as many tunes on your tune-playing mobile as most MP3 players.

So in this moviNAND offering are a series of four modules, 50-nanometer in structure with 16GB flash and a high-speed MMC controller. Data transfer is expected to be as good as the 4GB chips, which is quite good.

How affordable they are, and when they will be in wide release remain to be seen.
