The wonderful Wizard of Oz. Or at least that’s the name of the next Helio device, it seems, as the Oz Smartphone is displayed here with blatant Helio branding. While some people have said that Helio may be on life support at this point, a device like this could very easily launch the MVNO into the more successful side of things.

Details are pretty slim at this point, but as you can see from the picture, it’s got a conventional numerical keypad for when you want to make phone calls, but more importantly, it’s also got a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for ease of text entry. This will make your mobile MySpace experience a heck of a lot more convenient. The dual keyboard setup is possible because this phone’s got three layers. We also hear that it’s got EV-DO, a 2.1-megapixel camera, 260k TFT LCD, and Bluetooth.

Clearly, the Oz will compete directly against the Sidekicks, enVs, and iPhones of the world, so it’s still got quite the uphill battle to deal with.
