A handheld device from an Israeli startup accelerates wound healing by mimicking the body’s own tissue regeneration activity.
The company is LifeWave, and the product is the LifeWave BST, a handheld device that stimulates the tissues surrounding ulcers and other difficult-to-treat wounds, building up a safe level of electrical activity that kickstarts the natural healing process. The BST can deliver an alternating current of as much as 20 milliamps without a corresponding direct current, which is why it is safe for use.
Trials are under way in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, and the U.S.
