Archos 704 WiFi is Large and in Charge

Tired of squinting to watch movies on your iPod Video or Microsoft Zune? Forget 2.5-inch and 3-inch screens, because Archos is coming to your rescue with the monstrous Archos 704 WiFi, which they claim is the first 7-inch touchscreen portable media player. The 704 WiFi takes everything the 604 WiFi had going for it and makes it bigger.

The 7-inch touchscreen features a resolution as high as 800×480 (the highest of any PMP), offering the physical size of a 5×7 photograph. This puts it somewhere between 16:9 and 4:3, which I find a little strange. In terms of storage space, you get a 80GB hard drive: enough room for 70 DVD-quality movies. The 802.11g WiFi connectivity can be used for wireless email and web surfing, as well as the ability to access your PC library. Battery life is rated at 25 hours of audio, five hours of video.

The Archos 704 is available for pre-order now with an MSRP of $549.99.
