The One Laptop Per Child project is reporting that phase two of beta testing has started for their low-income computer for people around the world.

Notably different from the previous incarnation are the touch pad and a new screen with a built-in defuser. Beta testers are hard at work going over these XO units in the field, with varying degrees of success.

Orders for the innovate notebooks have topped 1 million recently. Manufacturers hope to ship 7 times that by 2008.
