I’m almost inclined to think that Sony is jumping for joy over this news, because it just shows that they’re not the only ones who are guilty of creating exploding laptop batteries. 100,000 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops have been recalled over the possibility that the Sanyo lithium-ion batteries found within might overheat and “pose a fire hazard if the laptop is dropped.”

This isn’t hypothetical either. There was one reported case wherein a poor consumer “suffer minor eye irritation.” Lenovo already got hit with a pretty big recall last September when they had to replace 526,000 Sony-provided batteries. I guess Sanyo isn’t much better.
