Magic Marker Mod for Blackberry Pearls

On one side of the fence, you have a group of people who don’t care at all about how a phone looks, focusing their entire collective energies on what kind of functionality the handset has. On the other side, you have people who don’t give a rat’s behind about how many megapixels the camera has, only how colorful the casing is. Let these two worlds collide with this nifty (and easy) mod.

SanFrancisco of BlackBerry Forums has put together an excellent DIY tutorial that will let you change the color of the Pearl’s white LED (and in effect, change the color of the trackball) to whatever color you’d like. There’s no need to dust off your soldering skills or any other warranty-voiding activities. All you have to do is take the assembly apart, whip out a permanent marker (we love our Sharpies), and put it all back together.
