Looks like the team from Cupertino has scored itself another patent, but it’s not for a revolutionary mobile communication device or an all-new portable media player. Nope, today Apple has succeeded in patenting the lanyard, except they call it an “ornamental harness.” But wait, haven’t I seen something like this before? How exactly is this all that different from the lanyard headphones that everyone seems to enjoy?

Right, this “ornamental harness” is apparently just there for good looks, because it doesn’t come with any ear buds. Instead, it seems to be a strap, the male end of an iPod dock connector, and that’s about it. Here’s the patent if you want to read any more into this, but personally, I’m not all that interested.
